Christy Hart
After leaving middle Tennessee ten years ago, I have recently moved back to the area this August. For the past 6 years, I worked as the director of an equestrian studies program for a small, private college 1 hour south of Knoxville. I started the program, taught the majority of the equestrian studies courses, managed the equestrian center, taught riding lessons, and had horses in training. Prior to working for the college, I managed a breeding farm in Greeneville, TN, and managed a boarding stable in Knoxville, TN. I was quite active in the Crossroads Dressage and Combined Training Society in Knoxville for several years.
Currently, I am working at Kyalami Farm in Franklin, TN. I have my PRE stallion, Brando MHF, boarded at Tami Crawford’s Travelers Rest Dressage. Brando MHF and I are currently competing at 3rd Level, and we achieved our USDF Bronze Medal together in December 2012. Under Tami’s guidance, I hope to compete Brando MHF in the Prix St. Georges. I also own a KWPN mare who is the mother to my next dressage horse, Brietta. I am most excited about Brietta as she is the daughter of Brando MHF!
Shelley Fugitt
I live in Donelson and work in Grants Administration for Metropolitan Development and Housing Authority. I owned quarter horses as a child and participated in the local saddle club shows in barrell racing with my Welsh pony. As an adult, I started taking lessons several years ago and that’s when I found my half-arabian mare Vicki Vale. We have shown in the Music CIty Arabian Shows in Murfreesboro with good success and other local schooling shows. A couple of years ago, I started hearing more about dressage from some of my colleagues and I found the training methods appealling to my analytical nature. I began taking dressage lessons in 2011 and am participating in my first schooling shows this year. We are having a blast. I love the test-driven aspect of dressage shows. There is always subjectivity in judging, but I find I like an atmosphere where my horse is judged based on what they are performing in the ring as an individual as opposed to the breed show format. And the dressage training itself has helped my mare so much. Vicki has had two bouts of EPM (the last one this June). The training methods for correct riding and movement in dressage have helped her regain strength and improve so much. And my own riding ability has grown in leaps and bounds.
As my interest in dressage grew, I was introduced to CTDA. I began coming to CTDA shows as a spectator in 2010. I volunteered at the Ole South show one year as a non-member just to be able to experience some of the show elements up close. I became a member last year and have volunteered again at rated and schooling shows this season. I periodically check the CTDA website for updates and news from the group.
As an Arabian owner and exhibitor, I have historically been active with the Middle Tennessee Arabian Horse Association. In 2012, I committed a large amount of time volunteering at their fun shows, meetings and other events. That year, I also prepared the prize list for the 2012 Music City Arabiah Show in November and performed many other volunteer duties to help make the show successful. I still plan on being active in some MTAHA activities. But I would like to focus on expanding my activities and involvement with CTDA. I would be happy to be of service to the group by serving on the board. I am new to dressage, but I am very enthusiastic and eager to learn and grow and help the group in any way I can.

I consider myself very fortunate to be at a place in my life that allows me to engage in my passion for dressage with my beloved Westphalian, Marlo 48. I would enjoy bringing my enthusiasm for the dressage journey to the board, having scribed for some of our shows and having been a member for many years. As a mother of four grown children and a registered nurse with a master’s degree from Vanderbilt, I additionally hope to bring skills learned as board chair of numerous community boards and organizations to the table for CTDA. My relevant volunteer experience includes raising money, cultivating donors, growing membership, and communications.

For Lease with option to Buy – 11 year old WB cross gelding.
I prefer to lease this horse out but I am not riding him enough for him to live up to his potential. A lease could be what you are looking for.
This is a big boned horse that is easy to handle and will take care of a not-so-great rider but then will be a fun horse for a more advanced rider. He has shown well at training and started some first level but I got distracted/busy. He is about 16.1-16.2 hands, has a dun gene but is sort of half dun half chestnut. HE HAS competed recognized BN teenagers on him in dressage, 4H, hunters, jumpers, eventing. He needs to get FIT. UTD shots, floating, goes barefoot, very easy keeper.
If leaser fell in love with him and it was a great match, I would sell him for his sake. But if I am ‘stuck’ with him when he gets old as a trail horse, I am happy with that!

Very talented eventing or dressage pony!
Appaloosa 13.2 pony gelding, LOTS of cadence…Very CUTE – Pictures are not close to showing how unique and cute this pony is! Only 6 years to start serious showing but has shown twice to test character and he is the same at a show as at home. At the shows, he competed in Intro level dressage, in hand with a 10 year old handler, and in costume with an 8 year old. Small adults should look at him too though!
VERY good natured even if rider doesn’t deserve it. Beginner kids can trail ride this pony. He goes on the bit easily, naturally built round and works through the back. Never hinted at bucking, rearing, kicking – its not his nature. $3000 obo

Dressage Grey Purebred Arabian Mare. This mare is 8 years old and 14.2 hands. She is talented for dressage and easy to get into contact. She is green but all you have to do is ride her trot and put her together.
She canters both leads and reaches through her back but she needs canter building development. She naturally works through. She will start showing at schooling shows this fall. (She has had one foal and had a tail issue so her tail is growing back). UTD shots, coggins and floating. Goes barefoot, very easy keeper. $2500.

Registered Paint Gelding, 12 years old, Solid Bay with star. He is solid training level and ready to go first level. He has shown first level at schooling shows.
15.3 hands, moves like a big horse. Extremely easy to handle on the ground (like a pet). He has evented and also done jumpers. $5,000.

Registered Belgian Warmblood Mare – Bay, 12 years old, 16.2 hands. Jenni Hogan competed her at first level with scores in the 70s; she was ready to go 2nd level (and this was 2-3 years ago!).
She has been eventing inconsistently for the last year and a half, and is now back to schooling dressage: she needs a home as her last owner is off to college. Asking $7000.

There were so many entries for the schooling show at Jenni Hogan’s Double H Farm that they spilled over into Sunday morning, making it CTDA’s first 2 day schooling show!! Saturday’s rides went from 7:00 to about 5:00 p.m. and Judge Evie Tumlin graciously agreed to continue judging Sunday morning to get everyone in. There were many levels represented – Greenie Weenie up to 3rd Level and also included USEA Beginner Novice, Western Dressage and Walking Horse Dressage. The day was hot but the shade trees made it comfortable for horses and riders. Jenni and her family, as always, were wonderful hosts and everyone appreciated the relaxed and supportive atmosphere.
Volunteers on Saturday were Cathy Holmes, Shelley Fugitt, Amber and Haley Preston and Penny Lindsley. Jenni and schooling show coordinator, Sherry Pride, multitasked on Sunday and performed roles of rider, scribe, ring steward and runner.
New this year is the $15 cash award for the high point CTDA members in each of the 4 divisions (13 and under, Junior/Young Rider, Adult Amateur, Open). Winners from this show, held July 20-21, were:
U13 – Olivia Pottmeyer on Ranger 65.625 in Intro A
Junior – Katie MacFarlane on Unanimous Blue 63.214 in Western Intro 1
Amateur – Julia Lankes on Rhinestone Cowboy 68.214 in Training 2
